
This project is an illustrated cookbook combining gastronomy and history. It would feature 12 iconic recipes from different eras and civilizations, each accompanied by its historical context. I was inspired by the YouTube channel Tasting History with Max Miller.
Each chapter would include a historical two-page spread and a two-page recipe section. The illustrations presented here accompany the chapter on chankonabe, a traditional sumo meal dating back to the Edo period, depicting its preparation and some of the traditions surrounding it.
