Illustration for the short story The Lottery by Shirley Jackson.

For this project, I used India ink and watercolor for the initial studies, and Photoshop for the final illustration.

The image depicts the final scene of the story, which is intended to be surprising and disturbing for the reader. I aimed to evoke the same feeling in the viewer through this illustration, drawing inspiration from macabre paintings.

The environments and props, all connected to the narrative, are inspired by the United States during the first half of the 20th century.
